How we shot a watermelon off Freddie’s head (Video)
There was a whole lot of debate as to whether or not we actually put a watermelon on Freddie’s head, and then allowed a person we had only just met, to shoot it with a gun that makes cows explode into BBQ.
Obviously, we did not. Though, the dude – aptly named Hunter – did nail a DIME 4 times from 100 yards away. So we probably could have.
This video briefly shows the simple set-up and composition we did to put two shots together to make it look like the .50 cal was blowing the watermelon off.
As for the shockwave myth, a .50 caliber bullet will not do anything if it doesn’t hit you. There is not super shockwave that rips off faces. A bullet going through a car will not kill everyone in the car. Probably a myth created by a sniper who couldn’t aim. Mythbusters has now busted it twice.
Pretty cool. Interesting too.

It would have been a good idea to try shooting a watermelon on the ground, just to see what it would look like. Maybe poorly editing in Freddie’s head/body for the laughs.

i found what gave it away was in the picture on youtube of the video it shows the watermelon being blown up but if you look closley you can see how bright the watermelon is and it looks kinda fake. Also freddie would never do that…….or would he?
I got to admit you had me fooled the first time. I thought it was flat out for real and scared the shit out of me. later I had to assume it was set up (fake) and did some research and found this. Gongrats, you had me fooled. I didn’t think freddiew would do anything like that anyway. Or would he?
Lastly an excellent article in relation to the topic, keep up the good work also I hope to read even more of your stuff in the time to come.
