Portland Hat Chase

On October 11th, we rolled into Portland. After Brandon did a magnificent job parking our behemoth of a RV into a Sears parking lot, we walked on over to a local bar and grill and enjoyed a burger and beer. Matt’s opinion of Broadway Bar and Grill: The Red Ale was tasty, the IPA made me miss California very much. Not even close to the West Coast’s IPA.

The plan was to tweet Freddie’s location – Holladay Park – at 3:30pm, and the first person to grab the hat off his head would win a prize. Being around 3pm, and with no prize in hand, we went to the Mall across the street and looked for a trophy shop. Amongst all the wedding gifts, and foo foo jewelry, sat a Star Trophy worthy of the Plumber with a red hat himself.

“Portland Man Touching Champion” is the crest this trophy would have. And now all we needed as a hat. Luckily for us, a custom hat stand sat literally 50 feet away from the store. A totally awesome dude with an epic beard met our needs, and busted out a red hat with “FreddieW” written on it in the most garish font we could find.

We got to the park just in time, and Freddie tweeted his location. In a mere 30 seconds we all heard “FREDDIE”, and a Portlander by the name of Ben chased him down. It was a good time, and within a half an hour or so we had a good 20 people to help make this video.

Afterwards we all walked over to the Mall’s food court and chatted and hung out for a while. Thank you Portland. Everyone was awesome, and we hope you all like the video.
